china VS india

NYT has a news video about the race to be the new dominant force in the world. Would it be China or India? He had a personal opinion as to which of the two would "win".

The story was a little perplexing. Why can't both of them develop their countries and not worry about being the new "world leader". Where did that phrase even come from? The rest of the world is focused on global warming and healing the environment. Both countries have a tremendous amount to contribute to the world but both of them (as he pointed out) have large stumbling blocks at home and abroad. It would seem in this day and time that there is no one country that is so well put together that it would qualify as the "World Leader".

It is interesting to note that along with developing the "country esteem" for lack of a better word or phrase domination seems to be part of that package.

In other words why can't India and China can't grow and better their country without being the best one in the world. It reminds me of a restaurant; baked potato or fries, salad or cole slaw, tea or water either or but not both.

I think both of them have some pretty outstanding qualities. Both of them have vast, culturally rich and complex histories. A competitive attitude just stimulates both to fix things that might be on the surface and most visible rather than working for the long cure for problems.
